Baguio grenade blast damages 3 vehicles

BAGUIO CITY – Three vehicles were heavily damaged when a grenade exploded early yesterday morning Sept. 4 here.

But no one was reported injured in the explosion that took place on Central Bakakeng here.

Chief Supt. Eugene G. Martin, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, said initial pieces of evidence take at the blast scene indicate that the explosive used is an MK2 fragmentation grenade.

Personnel of the Baguio City Police Office’s explosives and ordnance division conducted an investigation in an effort to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators.

Police investigation showed that a loud explosion rocked the parking area in front of the house of Edison Cabaron, 38, married, businessman, at No. 101 Kilometer 3, Central Bakakeng.

As a result of the explosion, three vehicles -- Cabaron’s Mitsubishi Outlander bearing license plate number AHH 631, a Honda Civic with plate number UGL 832 owned by Ferdinand Lazaro and an owner-type jeep with plate number CKU 460 owned by a certain Mr. dela Pena, were heavily damaged.

Teams were immediately dispatched to the area after the incident was reported to the police. -- Dexter See
