MALOLOS CITY-- Councilor Fidel Nacion Jr. of San Rafael, Bulacan was shot dead in his Honda CRV vehicle in Barangay Tibag, this town.

Two men attacked the victim while he was reportedly waiting for his driver whom he had asked to buy food from a "tapsilog" eatery. They were then on their way home from a KTV bar.

Police investigation showed that the victim was killed by two men, one of them armed with an M-16 armalite rifle.

The killers peppered the Honda CRV vehicle bullets, killing Nacion who was inside. The victim died on the spot.

It was reported that the councilor was carrying with him a Cal. 45 pistol, but he was unable to fire back due to the suddenness of the attack.

Police investigators said the killers were riding a motorcycle which sped away immediately after the shooting.

They found shells of armalite bullets at the crime scene.

Insp. Florencio Morales said the political angle is being looked into. He did not elaborate.
Nacion had just finished practicing bowling with his companions, including Vice Mayor Rino
Castro, when he was killed.

The group was reportedly preparing for a province-wide bowling tournament.
Nacion is the third politician who was killed in Bulacan since May when former Calumpit mayor Ramon Pagdanganan was killed. Last July 31, former Apalit, Pampanga mayor Tirso Lacanilao was gunned down in Calumpit town.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Plaridel police station led by Supt. Edwin Quillantes and Calumpit police station arrested Sunday a suspected robber on MacArthur Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Calumpit.

Acting Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Allen Bantolo identified the arrersted suspect as Marlon Santos y Santiago, 23, married, self-employed, native of Barangay Pambuan, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija, and resident of Barangay Gugo. Calumpit.

Bantolo said the suspect is involved in robbery cases committed in Plaridel and nearby towns.
Records of the Bulacan Provincial Police show that Santos has outstanding warrants of arrest issued in San Fernando City, Pampanga, and Gapan City, Nueva Ecija in connection with carnapping cases.

Several victims, who are residents of Calumpit and Plaridel, positively identified the suspect as the man who robbed them.
