BAGUIO CITY – Families are encouraged to fish for Tilapia at
Burnham Lake here on Oct. 21, Sunday morning, with prizes at stake, including
bringing home the fish they caught
Prizes shall be given for longest, heaviest and most number of
fishes caught.
Councilor Elmer Datuin , chair of the tourism, special events, parks
and playgrounds council committee, said the event was earlier visualized as
father-son/daughter or mother-son/daughter tandem, but was modified to include
other members of the family.
Individual fishers however are allowed.
Family members could take turns fishing with one member assisting,
guidelines stipulate.
A watcher shall be assigned to five participants during the
contest.
Participants should register with organizers’ staff wherein they
shall be provided with improvised fishing poles, unless they bring their own
materials.
Only one pole should be used by the participant during the
tournament. Materials, such as pails and basins for the catch shall be provided
by the contestant. Bait, with the exception of food which may be poisonous
shall also be provided for by the participant.
Participants are not allowed to transfer their catch to other
players, as upon being caught, these are presented to a watcher for recording
of weight and length.
Only Black Tilapia weighing more than 200 gms may be brought home
by the contestant. All other live catch shall be released back to the lake.
Fishing shall be done at all sides of the lake, but not on the
metal platform, the guidelines further maintain.
The event is open to all, and no fees shall be charged upon
registration, which starts at 8 a.m. within Burnham Lake vicinity.
Please let the peaceful fishes have their peace. I would say, if you're really an angler then better join others at the highsea having really the right-fishes (yumyum) in some part of the country or the blue marlin contests in Florida. The Burnham lake and Park would not be having it's beauty by doing this Non-sense game of the moneyed.
