SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Workers in the private sector in the Ilocos region will get additional pay of P3 to P15 a day based on a wage order recently approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.
Henry John Jalbuena, RTWPB chairman and regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment, said the wage increase was discussed in a series of public hearings conducted in Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Ilocos Norte.
Under the wage order, workers in the agriculture plantation and non-plantation sectors will receive P15 per day, while workers in secondary level such as hospitals, non-agriculture and micro-establishments will get P3, P5 and P10 a day, respectively.
Lawyer Pablo Olarte, chair of the committee on labor and employment of the provincial board of La Union, told The STAR that labor groups are seeking P18 increase across the board.
