BONTOC, Mountain Province — Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. said he will sponsor in the Senate a bill seeking an investigation on the alleged anomalies which caused the reportedly defective implementation of various projects in the Cordillera.
The chairman of the Senate committee on public works said here the Upper House will conduct an investigation on the allegedly defective projects as long as complaints are substantiated with evidence.
This, after some disgruntled individuals and self-styled graft busters have reportedly been using the controversies over implementations of the projects to assail certain line-agency officials and advance their own personal and political interests, particularly in pressuring certain government officials, to give large portions of the projects to their favorite contractors.
But when concerned agency officials did not accede to their demand, charges ranging from alleged overpricing and partiality in the selection of project contractors were filed against officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways with the Ombudsman and the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission.
