Three ‘drug pushers’nabbed in buy-bust

BAGUIO CITY -- The arrest last Feb.10 here of two Pampangeños serving as middlemen between marijuana suppliers in the Cordillera and marijuana distributors in Central Luzon had brought about the arrest of one of their suppliers, number five in the target list of drug personalities in Benguet, during a succeeding buy-bust operation last week.

The suspects were identified as Regie Alvarado Bries, 25, single, car painter of Tondo, Manila and resident of 142 Balibago, Angeles City; and Gary Tuazon Yumul, 21, married, construction worker of Mabalacat, Pampanga.

They were apprehended around 5 p.m. at the bus station in Gov. Pack Road,, Baguio City.

Seized from Bries and Yumul were four bricks of marijuana fruiting tops weighing eight kilos valued at P2,000.

In a follow-up anti-drug operation on Feb. 11, one of the suspected suppliers of Bries and Yumul was nabbed after selling another eight kilos of marijuana fruiting tops, also in four bricks, to an agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at Km. 5, Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet at around 8. a.m.

The supplier was named as Tosie Baydangan Bay-osan, 36, married, farmer of Kapangan, Benguet.

He was also found out to be a close relative of one of the alleged marijuana pushers nabbed by the PDEA in a previous operation.

The confiscated marijuana bricks from Bay-osan had very similar packaging with those earlier taken from Bries and Yumul.

Bay-osan said sold marijuana bricks to middlemen at P2,500.00 per two-kilo brick (as compared to its P50,000.00 price) rather than take the risk of being caught while transporting these personally to the lowlands.

Cases for illegal drugs will be filed against Bay-osan, Bries and Yumul.
