Baguio summer activities bared

BAGUIO CITY- After the hectic Holy Week schedule with the lucky summer visitors here, local and foreign tourists and vacationers, the city gears up for summer activities.

The city calendar released last week bared there will be summer sports in various venues, santacruzan, tourism promotional activities and special events.

Araw Ng Kagitingan shall be celebrated April 9 with preparations being coordinated with the City Administrator’s Office, Veterans’ Federation, the Baguio Centennial Commission and the City Tourism Office.

Councilor Nicasio Palaganas’ office is also actively involved in the preparations.

On the third week of April, the city of Baguio is expected to join the Aliwan Festival which brings together the country’s festivals in one venue.

A regular participant, the city is expected to bring delegates and showcase the Panagbenga, also known as the Baguio Flower Festival. Street dancers and the winning float entries shall be shown in this event.

On April 24 to 27, the liberation of Baguio shall be commemorated with the Veterans Federation of the Philippines and surviving veterans.

As in the past years, floral offerings and gun salutes shall be observed at the veterans park.

On May 1, being Labor Day, a job fair organized by the City Public Employment Services Office would be held at the Baguio Convention Center.

On the last week of May, expected with the coming of the rains is the Blooming of Flowers.

A Santacruzan Festival is being organized with a bevy of beauties and their consorts.

Venues for the past years included the Cathedral grounds and Session road for the parade of ladies garbed in their finery, honoring church personalities.
