Cagayan councilor shot dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY -- Another killing shocked residents of this city, the capital of Cagayan, after a former councilor of a nearby town was gunned down in the city proper last July 10.

The victim, Eduardo Palattao, 55, former councilor of Solana town, was shot several times by two motorcycle-riding men as he and his driver were coming out of a pawnshop.

The driver survived the attack unhurt.

Palattao unsuccessfully ran for re-election as Solana councilor. His brother-in-law, Rodrigo de Asis, also failed in his mayoral bid.

Palattao’s killing came in the wake of still unsolved slays in Tuguegarao City, including those of a police officer and at least four civilians. -- CL
