Fugitive creates trouble, found with ‘grass’, jailed

TABUK, Kalinga – A drunk fugitive was accosted by police for public disturbance, found in possession of illegal drugs and hailed to jail here last week.

On Sept. 28 at around 9 p.m., police responded to a call by civilians that someone was creating trouble here at Purok 4 in Barangay Agbannawag.

Led by PO1 Marlon Lingayo, a team with barangay tanods accosted a certain Jordan Sacyaben , 23 years old from the same place.

Found in his possession was small amount of marijuana leaves and a Samsung cell phone which police said was a “hot item” since someone whose identity was not named in the report was claiming the unit.

Sacyaben has a standing warrant of arrest for attempted robbery.

Sacyaben was turned over to the Talaca regional mobile group police camp and later to the Bulanao police sub-station.

Insp. Carlos Damagon said the suspect will be charged in court for his offenses.

Officials led by Agbannawag Barangay chairman Tomas Fangi thanked the police, the tanods, and civilian volunteers for their cooperation.

“No matter who gets caught, being a tribemate or relative, let the law takes its course on those committing crimes,” Fangi who belongs to the Bangad tribe declared.

Sacyaben is also from Bangad.

Local officials said they do not tolerate crime in Agbannawag as they would like to make the area a model barangay considering it is the entry point to the province from Cagayan Valley Region. – PIA
