Hunt on for 7 'killers' of judge

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Police and the National Bureau of Investigation have jointly launched a manhunt for seven suspects in last month’s killing of Vigan City Judge Reynaldo Lacasandile.

Senior Supt. Eduardo Dopale, Ilocos Sur police director, identified four of the suspects, tagged as guns-for-hire, as Benson Alviento, Henry Galapate, Rodrigo Urmin, and a certain Temy; the three others remain unidentified.

Dopale earlier said Lacasandile was waiting for a bus in the national highway when two armed men aboard a motorcycle arrived and shot him in the chest.

Bystanders immediately rushed Lacandile to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Dopale said the police is still investigating if the judge's murder had something to do with the cases he's handling.

The Philippine Judges Association condemned the murder of Lacasandile and urged the immediate arrest of the killers.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this dastardly act" PJA President Antonio Eugenio said.
