BAGUIO CITY – For honesty in returning money not his own, an employee of the regional Department of Public Works and Highways was recently conferred the Gantimpala Agad Award and a Certificate of Recognition by the Civil Service Commission, Cordillera Administrative Region under the CSC’s Mamamayan Muna Program.
Awards recipient Eddie Genaro R. Diaz, regional DPWH disbursing officer earlier returned to the services teller of the Land Bank of the Philippines – La Trinidad Branch P12, 600, excess amount of the employees’ salary withdrawn from the bank last Dec. 7.
“In this time of financial crisis, seldom we could find someone as honest as Mr. Diaz, who willingly and immediately returned a big amount of money,” said CSC regional director Fernando M. Porio.
Last December, the regional CSC also conferred the GAA to two teachers of SPED Center Danilo B. Bambico and Teresa S. Pundo, for “outstanding accomplishments, competence and unselfish dedication in handling and teaching children who are fast learners/gifted and those with disabilities.”
The GAA is the reward component of the Mamamayan Muna Program which aims to give instant recognition and reward government officials and employees who have rendered prompt, courteous, efficient, quality and honest service, as well as heroic acts.
As of December 2010, a total of 1, 789 public servants from the region had become recipients of the GAA.
Bulk of these GAA recipients came from the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection and those who demonstrated prompt and heroic deeds during Typhoon Pepeng in October 2009.
