LA TRINIDAD— The Benguet police provincial office and the 501st Infantry Brigade Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines recently signed a memorandum of agreement to create a joint peace and security coordinating center in the province to improve peace and order in their jurisdiction.
Signed by provincial director Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad for Benguet police and Lt Col Ernesto M. Simon for the AFP, the agreement was seen as integrated approach for peace and security concerns.
The MOA provides that Benguet PPO and 86th IB shall be responsible for the establishment of JPSCC in the province.
The location, composition, organizational structure, operational, training and logistical requirements shall be determined jointly by concerned AFP and PNP commanders.
The creation of JPSCC shall institutionalize unity of effort between the military and the police in addressing peace and security concerns like criminality, terrorism, lawlessness and in times of emergencies and disasters.
The PNP and AFP shall work hand in hand to support the local government units in peace and order concerns.
Also the JPSCC will have a joint intelligence and investigation cell, joint operation cell, joint civil-military operations-police community relations cell and joint legal cell.
