Charges set vs gold plant owner

TUBLAY, Benguet – Police are now preparing charges against the owner of a gold processing plant here after freshly cut lumber she allegedly owned were confiscated by police here at Suyoc, Caponga July 5 at around 4:30 p.m.

A police report said they were earlier instructed by the mayor’s office to check delivery and hauling of gold ore at the processing plant located at Suyoc, considering it did not have a business permit.

A team led by Senior Insp. Fernando S. Botangen interviewed laborers and discovered an illegal pile of Benguet pine lumber near the construction site.

Police confiscated a total volume of 756 board feet.

Further investigation revealed the lumber was owned by a certain Mary Ann Francisco who was also owner of the processing plant still being constructed.

The confiscated items were brought to the Tublay police station.
