The giving of award will be at Camp Crame, Quezon City during the PNP Anniversary on August 8. President Aquino will be the guest of honor and speaker during the event.
The two other finalists are PRO-5 in Bicol Region and PRO-7 in Central Visayas.
The validation team led by Director Alfred Caballes will arrive in Camp Bado Dangwa on July 4 to reassess PRO-COR’s administrative efficiency and its operational effectivity.
PRO-COR regional director Chief Supt. Villamor Arellano Bumanglag and the directorial staffs are preparing documents and other requirements that the validation team might request during their visit.
The PRO-COR head said being a finalist in the annual award means a lot to the men and women of PRO-COR because it is a proof that the regional police command is effective and efficient in implementing its mandates towards a peaceful region.
It was during the stint of Bumanglag as city director of the Baguio City Police Office when the unit was awarded for the first time as country’s Best City Police Office in 2002 then got the same award the following year.
When Bumanglag was assigned as provincial director of the Benguet Police Provincial Office, the command was also a back-to-back Best Provincial Police Office in 2005 and 2006.
It is not the first time that PRO-COR becomes a finalist in a national search for best PNP regional command.
The PRO-COR was adjudged Best Police Regional Office in 2002 and in 2005.
PRO-COR was likewise a finalist for Best Police Regional Office in 2006 and in 2009.
