BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested six persons Tuesday including a barangay captain for playing bingo inside a barangay hall in Outlook Drive here.
A police report said the “Bingo raffle sa barangay” was illegal thUs the raid.
Arrested were Orlando Abante Carezon, 33; Marlon Sampolio Angusto, 27; Aries Aguas Lopez, 27; Ramil Dayandante Padiragao, 38; Salvador Abacan Bacordo Jr., 19 and Joseph Gaspar Espada, 48.
Confiscated were four pieces of Bingo Raffle sa Barangay ID cards bearing the names of Faderagao, Lopez, Angusto and Carezon, assorted paraphernalia with bet money amounting to P1,560.00.
A case of violation of PD 1602 was transmitted to the City Prosecutors Office against the suspects including Punong Barangay Miguel Arnaiz of Outlook Drive.
The report said from Jan. 1 to July 31, city police conducted 18 operations against illegal gambling.
Among these, 58 persons were arrested and 16 cases were filed in court. Cash bets amounting to P12,609.25 and assorted gambling paraphernalia were confiscated.
City police under Senior Supt. David Lacdan , in line with the campaign of the Mayor Mauricio Domogan against illegal gambling in the city, is continuously conducting intelligence information gathering and police operation to eradicate illegal gambling, the report said.
