BONTOC, Mountain Province -- The 21milion Bontoc-Cadre Road rehabilitation project here will start soon after problems such as traffic and rights of way were ironed out by stakeholders.
Officials of the Mountain Province District Engineering Office led by engineer Benedict Matib, Barangay Caluttit, Bontoc government, Sta. Rita Cathedral, Winifred Ananayo representing the Bontoc General Hospital and representatives of the construction firm agreed rehabilitation of the road was a need.
Provincial district engineer John Marquez who organized the Sept. 14 meeting said an alternative route for the water system traversing the road particularly below the provincial police office compound would have to be re-routed before the start of the project to ensure water supply particularly at the hospital.
Matib said representatives from the construction firm made a plan to prevent closure of the road since it is the only feasible access road to the hospital and to other key offices at Sac-angan, Bontoc.
It was noted some of the properties within the Saint Vincent’s High School will also be affected but affected properties such as fences and water tank would be upgraded.
A groundbreaking ceremony was conducted for the project on Aug. 31but activities were delayed as engineer Jose Banggawan, representative of the Mountaineer’s Engineering and Construction Services, requested during the pre-construction conference that a meeting be scheduled with affected individuals to avoid interruptions during implementation.
