BAGUIO CITY — Some P55 million will be made available by the government to further beautify Burnham Park, one of the premier tourist spots located at the heart of this mountain resort city, authorities said Sunday.
Baguio Rep. Bernardo M. Vergara said the fund will come from the Department of Tourism and the Office of the President in response to President Aquino’s order to ensure that within his term, the city is restored to its glory days as the country’s undisputed summer capital.
Vergara said P30 million will be used for the rehabilitation of the park’s rose garden to make its landscape and trail more accessible to senior citizens.
Another P25 million, as promised by Aquino to Bishop Carlito Cenzon, is for the fencing of the park to protect the ornamental plants and garden fixtures from trespassers and vandals.
Vergara said local officials and residents of the city are thankful to the President for committing to provide the necessary resources to introduce innovations in the park for the continuous influx of foreign and domestic tourists that boost the city’s business and revenues.
Another huge, huge money for the park Burnham.....let us to see how would they use this millions of pesos again, not to forget that this park got a lot of money before yet, so good if 1 million be poured for it and the rest???
