DAGUPAN CITY -- Total damages wrought by Typhoon "Mina" to the province of Pangasinantotalled to P229.2 million, according to a final report by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
The report, signed by Quirino Aquino, PDRRMC executive officer, showed that the typhoon affected 224 barangays in 28 municipalities and three cities, while the casualties stood at two dead and one injured.
The damages were on agriculture, namely palay, corn, high-value commercial crop, fishery, livestock and poultry, P178.1 million; and infrastructure and public utilities, P51.05 million.
The infrastructure and public utilities include roads, bridges, irrigation canal, others owned by the provincial government, and communal irrigation systems owned by the national government.
The typhoon affected 224 families comprising of 19,664 persons. There were 17 houses that were destroyed, 10 totally and 13 partially.
The flood spawned by heavy rains triggered by the typhoon caused the evacuation of 454 families, comprising of 2,137 persons.
The number of families served in different affected towns and cities numbered 2,405, composed of 11,908 persons.
These included 500 families in various evacuation centers which were served by the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office with as many number of relief packs.
The PDRRMC earlier tagged the towns of Sta. Barbara and Calasiao as the worst affected municipalities. -- PNA
