Videoke bars in Ilocos Norte town padlocked

MARCOS, Ilocos Norte -- All videoke bars in this town wereordered padlocked last week.

Marcos Vice Mayor Junel Rosqueta said the municipal council passed a resolution calling for the closure amid complaints that minors were being hired as guest relations officers (GROs).

At least six minor GROs were recently rescued in videoke bars in Barangay Lydia.

Elderly local residents have also called for the closure of the bars saying these corrupted the morals of residents particularly the males.

But some men who admitted they patronized the establishments said they may just have to be contented drinking in sari-sari stores as they won’t have anyone anymore to cuddle while drinking an ice cold beer after a hard day’s work.
