BAGUIO CITY-- Fighting criminality and maintaining peace and order is a shared responsibility of all, police officers, local officials and the community.
Ifugao Gov. Eugene Balitang who is also Regional Peace and Order Council chairman said this during recognition rites of PSFTP SIKLAB Class 2011 Oct. 29 at the Philippine Public Safety College - Police National Training Institute Cordillera Administrative Region Training School.
In his message, Balitang reiterated two important points quoting what newly installed Police Regional Office – Cordillera director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong mentioned during turn-over rites at Camp BadoDangwa that police officers are community relation officers in their own right and that the fight against criminality and maintaining peace and order, is a shared responsibility among police officers, local government officials and the local community.
Balitang said what Magalong pointed out were true. “What you show or do, after you graduate and do your duties in the community, will reflect on how our people in the community will look at you and to the entire police institution, as a whole”, Balitang said.
Balitang added: “When they have their respective duties in the communities, show them the support that you have given them today in their recognition rights. This is also what we should do when we go home to our respective communities, I know that if this is how we treat our police officers, there is no reason that they will not do also their duty - to deter crimes from happening and maintain peace and order.
Balitang reminded the graduates of the recognition’s theme of ‘Disiplina at Pagkakaisa Kaakibat sa Pag-angat ng Pulisya’.
“It is not easy to be here, a lot of challenges are yet to be hurdled. This is only the recognition right and open collar ceremony, there is still graduation and the rest of your life to look forward to and you should carry all the principle you get from this training school”, Balitang said.
