TANUDAN,
Kalinga -- Three peace pacts were recently celebrated here, a boost in keeping
peace and order among tribes.
At
Licwotan, Mangali Centro, 60 members of the Basao tribe of Tinglayan participated in the “galigad” (turn-over) of
the peace pact between them and the Mangali tribe May 4-6.
Orlando
Amangao took over as peacepact holder for Mangali while CisonAyabo represented
Basao.
Both
inherited the peacepact from their respective fathers.
At
barangays Poblacion and Anggacan from May 7-9, some 160 members of the Betwagan
sub of Mountain. Province attended the galigad and grand “inum” (celebration)
of their “podon” (peacepact).
Peacepact
holders were Peter Balocnit of the Mangali and Salio-anFanteyao of the Betwagan
tribe in Sadanga town.
The
three major articles provided in the ‘pagta’ (provisions) of their Podon were
their respective “bugis” (territorial boundary), protection of life and
property, and respect to women.
Bonifacio
Balocnit who turned over the key of responsibility to his son, Peter, said the
peace pact between Mangali and Betwagan passed four generations with no
conflict.
Also
celebrated was the “podon” of the Betwagan and Lubo tribe of this municipality
on May 10.
