BAYOMBONG,
Nueva Vizcaya – Nearly 200 cases of dengue, including four deaths, have been
recorded in Santiago City, Isabela from January to May this year, prompting
local authorities to declare a dengue outbreak.
Although
dengue cases this year are down to 187 cases compared to 202 during the same
period last year, Dr. Ramoncito Bayang, assistant city health officer, said the
situation has become alarming with the deaths of four dengue patients.
“There is
a need to declare a dengue outbreak in the city to prevent more deaths caused
by the dengue virus and to intensify our anti-dengue campaign to avert the
occurrence of new cases,” he said.
Being
monitored as dengue hotpots are the barangays of Rizal, Mabini, Plaridel,
Cabulay, Plaridel, Calao East, Dubinan East and West, Centro East and West,
Patul, Rosario, Balintocatoc, Divisoria, Sinsayon, Victory Norte, and
Abra.
