Travel to tourist town eased by franchise nod

By Susan C. Aro

KABAYAN, Benguet – Travel to this tourist destination would soon be easier after the provincial board endorsed the request of town officials for franchise of mini-bus and van that would service people from far-flung barangays. Board member Bernardo Waclin said the request for a franchise had been a long clamor of the people of barangays Tawangan and Lusod.

With the board’s approval, transportation needs of the nearby town Tinoc,  Ifugao would also be eased.

At present, only private vehicles ply the route and residents still resort to hiking to travel to the next barangay such as Ballay or Poblacion to get public transport.

Barangay Tawangan passed a resolution requesting the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board and Department of Transportation and Communication to grant the franchise.

With the franchise’s approval vehicles would pass through the town of Tublay  to this capital town of Benguet .
