BONTOC,
Mountain Province – Cordillera regional director Henry John Jalbuena of the
Department of Labor and Employment recently turned over checks for five
livelihood projects in this province.
Miguela
Limmayog, provincial DOLE head, said Jalbuena awarded a P300,000 check for the
BontocBalikatan Organization with 40 member beneficiaries for processing of
native rice delicacies and rice retailing project, and for the Khiyag’s
Organization (youth) with 75 member beneficiaries for their coffee shop.
These
two organizations are located in Barangay Bontoc Ili in this municipality.
Limmayog
said checks were turned over to the barangay chairman of Bontoc Ili being the
accredited co-partner agency in the implementation of the DOLE Integrated
Livelihood Program in the barangay.
The
DOLE also turned over a P240,000 check to the barangay captain of Maba-ay,
Bauko for the Maba-ay Senior Citizen
Organization with 90 member beneficiaries for their carrot processing and
baking projects.
Another
check in the amount of P182,540.00 was also awarded to barangay captain of
Banao,Bauko for the Balaan Livelihood
Organization with 32 member beneficiaries for their meat processing project.
A
check in the amount of P179,920.00 was also awarded to the barangay captain of
Guinzadan Norte, Bauko for Long-boy Working Women Organization with 24 members for back-strap
weaving project.
Limmayog
said the barangay captains of these areas where the projects are located were
accredited as co-partners in the implementation of the DILP in the barangay.
They
will have a counterpart in the implementation of the projects in the form of
services like improvement of the
building where they conduct their project, installation of equipment and other
services.
DILP
is a community-based program and is being implemented in partnership with an
accredited co-partner such as local government units, workers' organization and
other groups to transform livelihood undertaking of workers group into
community enterprises.
