Five Kalinga villages energized

TANUDAN, Kalinga -- Five inaccessible sitios in this municipality were recently energized with electricity from the main grid.

Mayor Johnwell Tiggangay said the sitiosBulninan, Kabugao, Liyang, and Gumbowoy in barangay Pangol were electrified from local funds amounting to P800,000 and Sitio Darulog in Dupligan with P200,000 appropriation.
           
He said the Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative (KAELCO) implemented the project.
           
“Households where there are no roads leading to their places are now enjoying the benefits of electricity,” he said.
           
He said other barangays also not accessible to roads are already energized by micro-hydro power plants and solar energy.
           
“Barangays Poblacion, Mangali Centro are now lighted through micro-hydro power plants implemented by the Department of Energy with barangay and municipal LGU counterpart,” Tiggangay said.
           
He added 68 households in Barangay Anggacan are electrified by solar panel while the micro-hydro project of Lower Mangali is on-going and Taloctoc solar power source is being proposed for next year.
           
Pasil Mayor James Edduba said Barangay Bagtayan, Pasil was also electrified and the ceremonial switch-on was held August 22.
           
The project was realized through the Kapit-Bisig Laban saKahirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service program, he said.
