P.5 million marijuana bricks seized; 2 nabbed

VIGAN CITY,Ilocos Sur Two suspected marijuana couriers were nabbed after 10 marijuana bricks were confiscated from them during an entrapment operation by   lawmen of Alilem Police Station along the provincial road in Amilongan, Ilocos Sur.

Police said the suspected marijuana dealers were identified as Lito B. Ocasen, 37, of Sitio Dagdag, Daddaay Alilem town and Jayson O. Budas, of Sitio Nalbo, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet.

 Reports reaching the PNP headquarters showed police personnel of Alilem town chanced upon Ocasen and Budas carrying backpacks suspiciously along the provincial road going to SitioPilpil, Amilongan, Alilem.

When PO3 Jerome Bangaoil confronted the suspects Ocasen reportedly tried to bribe the police but Bangaoil refused to accept and insisted they open their backpacks.

 Later, P03 Darwin Ngaseo found nine bricks of suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops from the suspects.

 Police Chief Supt. Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, regional director of Police Regional Office 1 said the nine bricks were all sealed with packaging tape weighing more around 10 kilograms and valued at P550,000.

 A case for illegal drugs violation was filed in court against the suspects who were detained at Alilem police station..
