Sky Cable goes high tech in Baguio, Benguet areas

BAGUIO CITY – More than 20,000 cable subscribers in the Baguio-Benguet areas can now enjoy superior viewing experience with better quality of signal and expanded programming following the implementation of Sky Cable’s digitization program in order to be globally competitive in the cable industry.

  

Furthermore, Gidgette Faustino, Sky Cable marketing head, said subscribers could also avail of their five exclusive packages that will cater to the needs of the masses up to the high-end viewers with its Sky Cable 280, Sky Cable 399, Sky Cable 499, Sky Cable Silver and Sky Cable Gold.

           

 “If you want a wider array of channels to entertain you and your family, you can subscribe to either SKYcable Silver, the most popular cable package in Baguio, or SKYcable Gold, with seven more channels compared to Silver,” Faustino said, adding that aside from these new basic digital cable plans, subscribers now have the power to customize and beef-up their line-up, only made possible through SKYcable Select.

            

Aside from the launch of a wide variety of basic cable plans plus the power to customize via SKYcable Select, she explained digitization has allowed for an expanded channel line-up that is now arranged according to genre.  Now, SKYcable's channel line-up is as organized as you by putting together channels that belong to the same program types, thus, helping you recall channel assignments faster and making channel surfing even more convenient.

            

“It’s about time our Baguio-Benguet subscribers experience digital cable TV beyond clear signal,” Faustino said, citing that the installation of the required digiboxes to all their subscribers will be completed by the end of October thereby fulfilling its commitment to a fully digitized cable system in the area.

           

 Compared to the current analog cable system that is in place in Baguio-Benguet, Faustino explained going digital guarantees subscribers better, clearer digital reception, service is impossible to tap, Wide range of cable packages/plans with ala carte channels to choose from, up to date Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Child-Lock feature allows parents to lock channels they don’t want their kids to watch and The new and improved SKYCABLE Silver will carry 9 new channels at an adjusted rate – TLC, History, Bio, Telenovela, Asian Food Channel, E!, KBS, Kix and Fox Family Movies.

           

 “If you are a current SKYCABLE subscriber, you will be installed Digiboxes for free.  Free installation will be for the main outlet and declared additional outlet/s.  There will be SKY teams visiting your area and installing the Digibox for free,” she said, claiming that subscribers can also facilitate the scheduling of the installation of digiboxes in their homes and establishments.   

Apart from not enjoying the benefits of going digital,  most significant, Faustino explained that the  channel line-up of subscribers will remain on analog.  This means that subscribers will lose channels that will be moving to the digital tier.  Lastly Faustino added  the mandatory price increase will take effect, whether or not subscribers avail of the digiboxes in their homes and establishments in order to guarantee better viewing of their desired channels once the system will be in place similar to the digitized cable system in other urban centers in the country.
