11-hr power outage hits La Union, Pangasinan

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- An 11-hour power outage hit the provinces of La Union and Pangasinan on Friday due to scheduled maintenance work of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP's North Luzon corporate communication officer, said power outage in the two provinces was from 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Gaydowen said the shutdown of lines supplying power to the La Union Electric Cooperative's Aringay, Damortis and Alacan substations is part of the NGCP's annual preventive maintenance of selected hardware along the Bauang-AGoo-Tiblong 69-kilovolt transmission line.

Gaydowen said the NGCP, the country’s sole power transmission service provider and system operator, continues to strengthen the transmission network with its regular maintenance activities done in close coordination with the electric cooperatives.
