BAGUIO CITY —With the
deadline to register as voter for the May 2013 elections approaching, the
Commission on Elections (Comelec) office here has started to register more
individuals, according to city elections registrar Modesto Bahul.
Months prior to this
period, the Comelec office here was only accommodating a daily average of five
to 10 registrants but the number has now swelled to 300 per day.
Bahul said that it
would take sometime before his office can officially determine the number of
registered voters as "we would like to cleanse our list those who are not
really qualified as well as those who are no longer be able to cast their votes
because they already transferred to other places or dead. This process would be
very important to make our elections clean, orderly, peaceful and
credible." -- PNA
