BONTOC, Mountain Province – A native of Barangay Gonogon here donated P170, 000.00 that shall help aid the barangay through a community project which is now being implemented.

Estefania Angway Geston, who had been working and staying overseas came to Gonogon for a vacation a few months ago and now presently residing at Zambia was the donor of the  cash money.

She said earlier donating the amount for the community was her way of helping.

The donation was made known to the barangay and the constituents so they could come up with a project.

In the presence of Mayor Pascual Sacgaca, it was agreed that the money shall be used to build a water tank that shall supply the whole community of Gonogon.

The construction of the tank project is now ongoing  at Patpatayan, located about few meters away from a school.

As a way of strengthening the “bayanihan system” or the “og-ogfo”, the constituents voluntarily offered their labor services for free to haul sand and gravel including the tank construction.

The money was utilized for materials since food and labor was shared by the community.

The project also includes the construction of two “entik” at sitios Sumbagan and Sayudang of Gonogon.

The construction of the “entik” cost P45, 000.00 while the bigger tank at Patpatayan was budgeted an amount of P125, 000.00. The tank is expected to be finished next month.

Extra money from the donation will be used for other projects in the community.
