Fariñas’ son faces raps for detaining beating man
By Teddy Molina
LAOAG CITY – A youth leader in this city filed charges against the son and namesake of Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas and Sangguniang Kabataan provincial president for illegal detention and physical injuries, police said Tuesday.
Supt. Melvin Napiloy, city police chief, said the victim Raffy John Corpuz of Barangay 1, accused the young Fariñas of beating him up after the latter forced him into his Toyota Fortuner car.
Charged with Farinas Jr. were his companions identified as Carlo Gaygay, Joan Samonte and a certain Macky.
Napiloy said a witness, who executed a sworn affidavit, corroborated Napiloy’s allegations.
Local media tried to contact the congressman and his son for a reaction but they have yet to respond as of press time.
