‘Assassin’ nabbed for extorting 10k from councilor


BANGUED, Abra – An alleged “gun-for-hire” and drug pusher was nabbed here after trying to extort money from a town councillor and violation of  the gun ban law.   

Police identified the suspect as Ronron Valera Gabino, 21, of Bucloc town who was arrested May 25 around 1 p.m. here in Sitio Turod, Barangay Calaba by police led by Supt. Mario L. Mayames Jr.

Police investigation revealed that prior to the operation, SB member Darwin Linggayo of Bucloc, Abra reported to police that  Gavino was threatening them and demanding P10,000 in exchange for a bag containing important documents that he himself stole in the house of Linggayo.

A police team then set an entrapment but during the operation, the suspect sensed the presence of policemen and decided to run away aboard a motorcycle while firing at pursuing police.

The team fired back hitting the suspect on his right thigh but still managed to drive but was intercepted by the blocking police personnel.

Confiscated from Gabino’s possession were a Cal. 45 pistol loaded with five bullets, hand grenade, shabu and marijuana valued at P2,000.


Gabino was brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment where he is now confined.
