BAGUIO CITY -- Parents and students rushing
for enrollment, clogged the National
Statistics Office Census Serbilis Center here the past two weeks with
clients reaching as
high as 1,883 a day.
NSO regional director Olivia Gulla, told a
radio program their service area which can accommodate around 200 persons is
now clogged by clients with long lines reaching sidewalks from the NSO office.
Despite the constant public reminder for
parents and graduates to get
their NSO documents for school or board
exam requirements earlier, clients
reportedly peak up every month of May.
Gulla called for public understanding and
support as they set quota of 1,200 clients a day.
She said daily quota took effect May 22.
According to Gulla, since January, average number of daily clients was 1,430,
but went up to 1,883 clients May 21, wherein most clients reportedly requested
multiple documents.
Aside from their walk-in clients, the NSO
Baguio office is also processing NSO documents from their BREQS (Batch Request
System) partners.
These include SM City Baguio, NSO-Ifugao;
NSO-Abra, and local government units of
Dolores, Abra; Bontoc, Tadian, Bauko, Barlig, Paracelis of Mountain Province,
Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The public can apply for NSO documents in
BREQS offices.
Gulla urged the public to plan their schedule in getting birth certificate for school or board
examination.
Those going
to the NSO are urged not to bring companions especially children,
as they will add to congestion in the
service area, she said.
Aside from Birth, Death and Marriage
Certificates and Certificate of No Marriage or Cenomar, the NSO – Baguio outlet
also processes authentication of Local Civil Registry (LCR) issued documents,
endorsement of newly registered documents with coordination of the provincial
NSO office concerned and consultation about documents problem.
