35 cases filed: 93 nabbed for illegal gambling in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet - Police recently arrested 93 suspects in the Cordillera for illegal gambling like jueteng and filed 35 cases against the suspects.

Latest to be arrested by personnel of the Benguet Criminal Investigation Unit and La Trinidad police was a 43-year- old man while collecting bets Monday afternoon at the La Trinidad public market.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin, provincial police director identified the susupect as Cesar Legaspi Limpayos, of Rocky Side, Lubas, La Trinidad.

Confiscated from the suspect were booklets of Meridien Vista Gaming Corporation, and cash bets of P 700.

Police Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong, regional police chief said regional police will continue to undertake anti-illegal gambling  and seek the support of  local officials and other sectors in the region to stop the menace.
