Ifugao marijuana plantation destroyed
TINOC, Ifugao -- Anti-narcotics and police operatives eradicated a marijuana plantation here Sitio Lungogan,Barangay Tuludan Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, provincial police director said  Tinoc police led by Insp. Alyson F. Kalang-Ad destroyed at the site more or less 50 fully grown marijuana plants and confiscated 21 kg  sacks of dried marijuana leaves.

Investigation is still ongoing to identify the cultivator.

Samples of the illegal plants and dried marijuana leaves were brought to Tinoc police station as evidence..

Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong, Cordillera regional police director  directed all unit commanders to heighten police operations against personalities involved in illegal drugs and put them behind bars.

Carpenter arrested for shooting brother  
BAGUIO CITY -- Police arrested a 51-year-old carpenter for shooting a man he had an argument with earlier.

Senior Supt. Jesus Cambay, Baguio City police director identified the suspect as Mario Paytocan Langpawen and the victim as Santos Paytocan Danalo, 48, laborer, both residents of Purok 1, Lower Happy Hallow, Baguio City.

Langpawen shot the victim on his back shoulder while he was urinating in the barangay.

The feud was triggered by an argument while both were having a drinking spree where Langpawen was allegedly punched several times by the victim.

The suspect went to his house took his Caliber .22 firearm and shot the victim on his right back shoulder while urinating.

The immediate respond of the policemen led to the arrest of the suspect and seizure of the firearm Cal. 22 rifle asd bullets.

Apayao farmer nabbed for mutilating live-in partner
STA. MARCELA, Apayao -- A 38-year old farmer was nabbed evening of Sept. 22 after he battered and mutilated the fingers of his live-in partner with a scythe.

Senior Supt. Alberlito Garcia, provincial police director, identified the suspect as Dominic AssistinPugal while his live-in partner was a 26-year old household helper, both residents of Purok 3, Barangay San Carlos here.

 An intense dispute between the couple was supposed to be the cause of the incident. 

The victim tried to grab the scythe allegedly used to attack her that led to the cutting of her right hand middle and ring fingers.

Bakun cops seize illegal lumber
 BAKUN, Benguet – Police confiscated lumber Monday here in SitioNamagtey, Barangay Ampusongan.
Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin, provincial police director illegal loggers eluded arrest when town police raided the area.

Twenty nine pieces of lumber with a volume of 267 board feet, were taken to Bakun town police station.

Hunt on for Tarlac gas station holduppers
GERONA, Tarlac – Police authorities launched a massive manhunt against robbers who held up a gas station Tuesday along McArthur Highway in Barangay Macaspac here.

Police investigation showed that three unidentified men on board a Honda TMX asked the gasoline station’s attendant to fill their motorcycle. After it was filled, one of the riders alighted, drew a firearm and declared a hold-up. Taking with them their loot of P6,636 that was contained in a black belt bag, the three fled towards the north. -- Mar Supnad

Indian national dead in ambush in Ilocos Sur
LAOAG CITY – An Indian national engaged in lending business was shot to death by still unidentified suspects on board a motorcycle.

The incident happened along the national highway in Barangay Lang-ayan, Currimao town, shortly after noontime Tuesday. Currimao police chief Sr. Insp. Ryan Retutar identified the victim as Jaswinder Singh, 38, a resident of Barangay Cangrunaan, Batac City. Retutar said the victim was with Amarinder Singh when the incident happened. Amarinder was not hurt, enabling him to bring the victim to the nearest hospital in Batac City for medical treatment.

However, the victim died later due to the several bullet wounds he suffered in the different parts of the body. -- Freddie Lazaro

Fun walk caps National Crime Prevention Week
BAGUIO CITY -- A “fun walk was held here Sept. 29, in commemoration of National Crime Prevention Week spearheaded by National Police Commission.

Participants were students in schools and universities in Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet, government agencies and stakeholders.

Guest of honor and speaker for the activity was Rep. Nicasio Aliping.

2carnappers arrested;4 vehicles recovered
MANKAYAN, Benguet -- Two suspected carnappers were nabbed here last week as they were retrieving a car hanging on a road parapet here at Sitio Ambabag, Barangay Duwag in this mining town.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo AzurinJr, provincial police director identified the arrested persons as Valentine GuinyawanBugtong, 40, of Pilando, Gambang, Bakun town and Ryan Danton iGuinyawan,  28 of Man-atong, Suyo, Ilocos Sur.

The retrieved car, a Tamaraw FX with plate number TSG 838, was reported by the owner, RoldanSacla Pay-osen, of nearby Bangao, Buguias, to have been carnapped.

Two more motorcycles abandoned in Sitio Cotcot, Barangay Bangao, Buguias were recovered last week.

Meanwhile, Mankayan police , with Felimon Ladyog, member of the Barangay Peace Action Team, recovered a maroon Tamaraw FX vehicle fund abandoned in Sitio Dagadag, Cada, Balili, Mankayan.

A police record revealed that the said vehicle was stolen since August 4, as reported by the owner, ArtemioGaspili of Abatan, Buguias.

The recovered automobiles are now under the custody of the Buguias and Mankayanpolice while the two alleged carnappers were charged in court.

4 nabbed for illegal guns
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Two men were arrested in Banaued, Ifugao while another two were nabbed in Buguias, Benguet for illegal possession of firearms.

A report from a concerned citizen resulted in the arrest of the two men in Pasnakan, Poblacion, Banaue, Ifugao for creating trouble and indiscriminately firing their guns.

Senior Supt.Angelito Casimiro, provincial police director identified suspects as Emilio Blas MicoJr, 38, who was caught in possession of ashotgun, 19mm pistol, and a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition; and his companion, Arthuro Sarmiento Fernandez, 44, a resident of Maypaho, Caloocan City who was in possession of a magazine loaded with threebullets.

Meanwhile, Buguias, Benguet police arrested two individuals inside Dalog Building in Abatan, Buguias,

One suspect allegedly fired his gun and hit the left foot of one of the waitresses identified as Margie Bested Galian, 19,  a resident of Ambuclao, Bokod, Benguet.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo AzurinJr, provincial police director identified those arrested as Arvin Punzalan Enomis, 41, trader who was in possession of a Cal. 22 revolver and NarioTindoOg-oget, 36, who was caught in possession of two bullets for Cal. 45 and an empty shell for Cal .22.

Both are residents of Lutheran, Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.

Kagawad collared in drug buy-bust
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — A suspected drug dealer arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a buy-bust operation in Mangaldan, Pangasinan recently, turned out to be a barangay kagawad (village councilman) in the town of Manaoag.

PDEA Ilocos director director Adrian Alvariño identified the suspect as Joedhel V. Ocomen, 26, who yielded a heat-sealed plastic sachet of “shabu” during his arrest last September 18 in Barangay Poblacion, Mangaldan.

The P500 marked money used by a poseur-buyer was also found in his possession.

Foul play eyed in death of nanny
BINALONAN, Pangasinan – The finding of the body of a nanny at a compound in SitioLibag, Barangay Sta. Maria, here, reeks of foul play, investigators said.

Probers said they are digging deeper into the case of 54-year-old widow, Jocelyn S. Cabanayan, a native of Samar, whose body was found at 4 a.m. Sept. 18 at the terrace of the house of Marciana P. Vinluan.

Prior to her reported death, a witness said Cabanayan had been crying.

Probers are trying to figure out what it was that had been bothering the fatality, who had been a long time nanny of Councilor Josephine Caburnay.

Two men nabbed for chasing man with bolo
BAGUIO CITY -- Two men were arrested after they chased and threatened an individual with a jungle bolo Monday afternoon here along Upper Mabini St.

The victim was identified as Silver Viscaya Totanes, 20, of Pidawan, Loakan here  while the suspects were identified as Janus Acuat Alwiyao, 19, and Peter Bongabong Balotoc, 18, both of Mabongtot, Lubuagan, Kalinga and at present residing here at Purok 2, Irisan.

 The suspects chased Totanes after a heated dispute but responding policemen immediately arrested them and recovered a jungle bolo from them.
