DOJ told: unmask brains in murder of VM, wife

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Arcinue family of Lingayen expressed Thursday thanks to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for last week’s arrest of the gunman in the killing of former Vice Mayor Ramon Arcinue and his wife, Zorahayda, and urged Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to make further efforts to unmask the mastermind in the double-murder case.

Speaking for the family, Mayor Bing Arcinue of Sual who is the elder brother of the slain former vice mayor thanked De Lima for having directed the NBI “to immediately conduct manhunt operations and effect the warrant of arrest” of the suspected gunman, Otto Guialaludin.

Guialaludin, a.k.a. “Boy Muslim” and a native of Cotabato City, was arrested while about to claim cash at a money transfer center.

He is the principal suspect in shooting the couple to death at their apartment in Sampaloc, Manila on March 7, 2012.

Asked if the family had any idea of who might have ordered the killing, Mayor Arcinue said they believe it has something to do with politics.

The Manila Police District has three witnesses identifying Guialaludin as the gunman.

MPD probers also said that Guialaludin is a former close-in bodyguard of Mayor Ernesto Balolong of Urbiztondo, Pangasinan.

Balolong denied any part in the crime, sayng: “Why will I be implicated in the killing of the couple? I don’t know them personally and there’s no motive to link me to them.” – Leizle BasaInigo
