P3.3 million set to fund Paracelis water project

PARACELIS, Mountain Province – Water needs of this remote town will be uplifted being a recipient of the 2013 Sagana at Ligtas Na Tubig Sa Lahat Program of the national government.

This is in consonance to Millenium Development Goal (MDG) No 7” to reduce 50% of the world’s population without access to safe and potable water particularly for poor and waterless communities.

Here, beneficiaries of the project are households of barangays Poblacion and Bantay.

The program is one of the results of the President’s Social Contract as embodied in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) for 2011 to 2016 to increase access to water and sanitation services.

The Philippine Water Supply Sector was formulated to set the vision, goal, and strategies for the water and sanitation sectors.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Paracelis through Resolution 2014-006 authorized Mayor Gavino L. Bucok to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Interior and Local Government, Cordillera Administrative Region for the project.

Federico Dalayday, secretary to the mayor stated said in an interview the local government unit of Paracelis is complying with requirements.

These include project proposal and MOA with Department of Interior and Local government.

He said the P800,000 local government unit  counterpart will be augmented to P2.5 million DILG national office budget allotment.

The LGU organized Municipal Water and Sanitation Council, Program Management Unit which conducted barangay assembly, gathered data information and designated project engineer to supervise construction activities in coordination with  DILG, Department of Health, and NAPSI.


Dalayday said project funds will be released in two tranches after completion and submission of documents to concerned offices.
