Philippines' hottest: 37.9°C in Tuguegarao

TUGUEGARAO CITY -- The highest temperature in the country so far this year was recorded here Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Citing data from PAGASA weather forecaster Jun Galang, the state-run Philippine News Agency reported that 37.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tuguegarao City at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The hottest temperature recorded in Metro Manila so far this year was 35.7 degrees Celsius Friday afternoon, March 28.

PAGASA is expecting the temperature to rise over Metro Manila and various parts of the country due to a high pressure area and the easterlies.

In its 24-hour public weather forecast on Tuesday morning, PAGASA said the ridge of the HPA is affecting Luzon while the easterlies are affecting the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.

The entire archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Light to moderate winds from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and from the east to northeast over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
