BONTOC, Mountain Province -- The PhilCor
(Philippine Cordillerans) in New South Wales, Sydney, Australia recently turned
over medical supplies and financial assistance for their brethren
back home.
Juliet Comafay,
area representative of PhilCor for Mt. Province Comafay turned over last April
21 four water hydroboils, one unit stretcher trolley, and 3
in 1 glucometer to Bontoc General Hospital.
She also
delivered glucometer, blood pressure digital apparatus, refrigerator for
vaccines, salter weigher, dura box for medicines, autoscope diagnostic set,
two spine board, two nebulizer and two digital thermometer to Supang
Barangay Health Station in Sabangan.
The financial
assistance of P108,000.00 was turned over last month to New Lubon Elementary School
for the procurement of construction materials for a small classroom, according
to Mary Jane Tumapang of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist who
accompanied Tumapang.
Aside from these
mentioned beneficiaries, the PhilCor has also benefited other public schools
and health facilities in the province.
Tumapang said
Cordillerans residing in New South Wales Sydney, Australia have organized
themselves and conduct fund raising activities and the amount collected
is divided among the Cordilleran provinces in that place.
They will identify
where to use the money from the proposals or resolutions they receive from
their in their own home provinces.
She said the
PhilCor focuses its programs on health in public clinics and
hospitals and education in public schools.
Beneficiaries of this
program have also their counterpart such as labor and maintenance
of equipment. They are required to submit a yearly report to the
PhilCor since this is a registered organization is being audited by the Bureau
of Charities and Games ,Tumapang added.
