Hedcor distributes school supplies in Sabangan town

SABANGAN, Mountain Province — Hedcor, committed in promoting education in its host communities, gave pupils and students in its host barangays here with school supplies for the school opening.

Headed by Hedcor’s Vice President for Business Development Boy Jabonillo and Hedcor team went to different schools in Barangay Namatec and Barangay Napua to distribute school kits to pupils and students of the said communities. The kits contain primary school materials to supplement the learners’ needs in their studies.

The group started handing out the school supply kits in Namatec Elementary School where the group was warmly welcomed by the children, teachers and parents in the barangay’s open gymnasium.

Debbie Joyce Dalog, a pupil of Namatec Elementary School, thanked Hedcor team leaders and team members after she and her classmates received their school supplies. “Maraming salamat po sa mga binigay ninyong mga school supplies sa amin. Asahan po ninyong gagamitin naming mabuti ang mga ito sa aming pag-aaral.”

Namatec National High School students, the three Napua Primary Schools’ (Napua, Libo, and Dumanegdeg) pupils were also recipients of the school supplies. Students and teachers of Namatec National High School sang a ‘Thank you” song to show their appreciation for the supplies they received. The schools look forward for more partnerships with Hedcor in their school activities.

More than 400 pupils and students in the two host barangays benefited from the distribution activity.

Apart from the school supply distribution, Hedcor Sabangan Inc. also turned over to Namatec Elementary School the newly constructed school perimeter fence at the back of one of the school buildings. The fence was built for a safer way for pupils to school from their residences.  Earlier than the event, the company also joined in the annual Brigada Eskwela and supplied construction materials needed by the different schools in Sabangan.

Hedcor continues to build up its host communities by allotting more funds to education. Aside from its continuous involvement in Brigada Eskwela activities and school supply distribution, the hydro firm also grants college scholarships, gives financial assistance to high school students, conducts trainings for teachers, and computer and school building donations in Benguet, Ilocos and Davao. Through its efforts, a better future awaits the children and the communities.

Barangays Namatec and Napua in Sabangan accommodate the ongoing 14MW Hydro Power project of Hedcor. The Sabangan Hydro is the first run-of-river hydro project of Hedcor in Mountain Province.
