2 cops cited for arrest of ‘most wanted person’
CAMP JUAN, Ilocos Norte – The two police officers who were responsible for the arrest of the most wanted person in Region 1 were conferred with the “MedalyangKasanayan” in San Fernando City, La Union. Chief Supt. Roman Felix, Region 1 police director, said Wednesday that Supt. Eduardo L. Danguecan, and Police Officer 2 Marc Carl Julaton were honored for their effort in the successful arrest of SilvanoTugadeRondal, 43, resident of Barangay Napu, Ilocos Norte.
         
       Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, the arresting team nabbed the suspect at his residence last Jan. 2.

Leader of gun-for-hire grup nabbed
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A suspected leader of a gun-for-hire group tagged in the series of killings of five barangay officials in Ilocos Sur was arrested in Barangay Dirdirig, Burgos, Ilocos Sur, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported here.

Senior Supt. Francisco Esguerra identified the suspect as ArsenioDela Cruz, 62.

He is listed as the sixth most wanted person in the region. Esguerra said the suspect killed Antonio Valdez, chairman of Barangay Dan-ar; William Jimenez, councilman of Barangay Nagtablaan; Alfonso Castillo, councilman of Barangay Poblacion; and the twin killing of MelchorAlcantara, chieftain of Barangay Nalvo, and RemegioAtendido, councilman of Barangay Maynganay. Dela Cruz was arrested by the CIDG-Ilocos Sur and the Burgos municipal police. — Erwin Beleo

Barangay official nabbed for illegal gun, bullets
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 1 here seized one .45 caliber pistol, live ammunitions and accessories at the residence of  Kagawad Ricardo P. Jarillo of Barangay Pangpang, San Carlos City.

Senior Supt. Francisco Esguerra, CIDG1 regional chief, said the search was made by virtue of a warrant issued by Hon Judge Hermogenes Fernandez of San Carlos City, Pangasinan Regional Trial Court Branch 56, dated May 23 for Violation of R.A. 8294 (Illegal Possession of Firearms). — Erwin G. Beleo

4 cops in arrest of drug dealer cited
CAMP FLORENDO , La Union — Four policemen responsible for the arrest of suspected big-time drug trafficker, Ham G. Bandas, in Santol town, this province, last March was awarded medals by the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), here, recently. Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, PRO1 director, conferred the “Medalyang Kagalingan” to Senior Inspector Lawrence L. Ganuelas, Santol chief of police, Inspector Kristoffer King A. 2 motorbikers die in San Juan
SAN JUAN, La Union  — Two young men riding in tandem on a motorcycle were killed in a high-speed crash after trying to overtake a trailer truck along the national highway in Barangay Lapting here Monday night.

Police identified the victims as Daryl S. Valledor, 22, Lindell A. Villon, 19. As their Suzuki Raider R150 (with no license plate) tried to overtake the truck, it cruised right into the path of an oncoming Honda Dio motorcycle, driven by one Dennis R. Urbano, 32. In evading each other, both motorcycles crashed. Urbano was hospitalized for injuries.

Ilocos gun-for-hire gang head arrested
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – The suspected leader of a gun-for-hire group tagged in the killings of five barangay officials in Ilocos Sur is now in police custody, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said.

Senior Supt. Francisco Esguerra, CIDG regional chief, said the suspect, Arsenio de la Cruz, 62, the sixth most wanted person in Ilocos Sur, was linked to the Dec. 4, 2013 slay of Antonio Valdez, chief of Barangay Dan-ar, Santiago town, among other killings.
