Baguio newsman Soberano writes 30


BAGUIO CITY – Photojournalist Angelito “Toots” Soberano passed away Dec. 25 on Christmas 10:20 p.m. here at the Baguio Medical Center succumbing to a long bout with diabetes and kidney failure.

A native of Asingan, Pangasinan, Soberano was 56 years old at the time of his death. Although a businessman who had a string of apartments and taxi units, Soberano’s passion was taking  photographs for newspapers aside from joining cause-oriented events.

A resident of Lower Brookside here, Soberano started from the former Baguio-based Gold Ore renamed City Digest, then moved on to the now defunct Baguio Daily Vibrations.

He later joined the Northern Philippine Times among other newspapers.

Soberano was also news photographer for the Northern Luzon Bureau of the Philippine Daily Inquirer since the 90’s.

Soberano was news and photo correspondent of Manila Bulletin and European Pressphoto Agency at the time of his death. 


His body was cremated with the wake held at St. Peter’s Chapel here along Marcos Highway this weekend.
