Village chief nabbed for illegal drugs, grenade
TAYUM, Abra – The village chief of Barangay Gaddani was
arrested here last week for illegal drugs and ammunition.
The suspect was identified as Armando Alagao, 44, who was nabbed by cops after search warrant was
issued against him by RaphielAlzate, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court,
Branch 58, Bucay, Abra.
Confiscated from Alagao’s house were
shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia; and hand grenade.
The search was witnessed by barangay officials and Edgar
Tanora of radio station DZPA and Abra Today, a local paper.

Driver, helper nabbed for illegal
lumber
BAGUIO CITY - A driver and his helper were arrested
at a checkpoint here morning of March 27for transporting lumber
without documents.
Rowel Lagul Adviento, 39, a native and resident of
Abbag, Maddela, Quirino Province, was driving a white Hyundai Grace van bearing
plate no. XBK 536 with his helper named as Marvin Tayaban Vicencio, 36, farmer, of Sangbay, Madella, Quirino
when cops flagged them down here along Tiptop Ambuclao Road.
Found in the vehicle were seven pieces of lumber. The two
could not produce documents for the lumber making police arrest them.
A case for violation of Presidential Decree705 known as Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines was
filed against Adviento and Vicencio.
Man’s house yields marijuana, gun,
bullets
PIDIGAN, Abra – Police arrested a man identified as Isagani Pastor Briones, 47 for illegal drugs
and gun with ammunition here last week when lawmen searched his house.
Police made the search following warrant issued by search
warrant issued by Judge Raphiel Alzate, presiding fudge, Regional
Trial Court,Branch 1, Bangued, Abra.
Seized items were a sachet containing marijuana seeds, drug
paraphernalia,Cal. 9mm pistol inserted with a magazine loaded with seven bullets
and gun holster.
Briones is now under custody of Pidigan police while a case
for illeal drugs was filed against him in court.
Miners nabbed for stealing gold ore
ITOGON, Benguet -- Four miners were arrested for stealing
sack of gold ore at Acupan, Virac here
Monday.
Suspects were identified as Winston BanagAgwayas, 26, native of
Tinglayan, Kalinga; Jeffrey Ligtao
Soriano, 27, of Sison, Pangasinan; Cyrus GalaoCudal, 24, of Tabuk, Kalinga and Jeffrey Balyang Daluson, 21, also
of Tabuk all residing at Kias, Baguio City.
Suspects were caught in the act bringing sack of suspected
gold ore that led to their arrest by the security guards of Benguet Corp. and local
police.
All were later released after signing an agreement with the
mining firm.
Cordillera police chief urges men to
pay taxes
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet
– Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez urged
regional cops to promptly pay income taxes to avoid rush and penalties at
Bureau of Internal Revenue Office.
This, after memorandum of agreement was made between BIR and
Philippine National Police at BIR National Training Center in Quezon City Jan.

Nerez said measures will be undertaken to ensure proper
accomplishment and timely filing of BIR Form No. 2305 by uniformed and
non-uniformed personnel of the PNP that will result to effective remittances of
said tax to BIR.
The MOA will ensure the collection and remittance of
withholding taxes of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the PNP. “With
this agreement between the PNP and the BIR, the instances of erroneous claims
of personal and additional exemptions deductions by the PNP personnel will now
be paid correct to the BIR,” Nerez said.
He said the police regional office’s finance service office
will undertake general updating of exemptions by requiring PNP personnel to
file certificate of update of exemption and of employers and employees
information (BIR Form No. 2305) to ensure better compliance of tax obligations
of PNP personnel.
PNP
human rights program chief bares program in Abra
BANGUED,Abra
– A forum was recently held here among military and civil society
organizations, non-government organizations in the province on “human rights-based
policing program.”
Chief Supt.
Antonio B. Viernes, chief of the Philippine National Police – Human Rights
Affairs Office led the forum with the theme “Mamamayan at pamahalaan, kapit-bisig
sa pagsulong ng karapatan sa kaunlaran.”.
Viernes
said this is a nationwide information education campaign of the PNP-HRAO
on their policing program to draw support from all sectors and establish
mechanics for coordination to improve PNP service.
Viernes
said rights of people as embodied in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights was
signed in 1948 by world leaders including the Philippines. Yet, many of
people’s rights are not respected, he said.
One
example of a human right, he said, is
the right to attain orderliness, peace and prosperity in the province.
Relative
to this, Viernes urged Abrenios to report any crime or abuse of human rights so
that it could be addressed by the PNP immediately. He gave the following

51 PNP personnel, dependentsbenefit from PRO-COR health program
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Some 51 individuals benefited from Regional
Health Service of Police Regional Office Cordillera dubbed as “Take a look
inside my heart” for police personnel and their dependents March 21 here
at Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital.
The RHS
in coordination with Philippine Heart Association Northern Luzon Chapter, led
by Dr. Ray PasigonAswat, chapter coordinator conducted free consultation,
screening tests on blood sugar, cholesterol and ECG .
The
also conducted lecture on “controlling risks of cardiovascular diseases” of
which 33 PNP personnel and 18 dependents availedof.
PNP
personnel, non-uniformed personnel and PNP dependents were encouraged to avail
of the said program to prevent or control illnesses or diseases.
Napolcom-Cordillera
has new director
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet–The National Police Commission has a new director
in the Cordillera.
Turnover
ceremony was held here last week with Napolcom regional director Pedro T.
Magannon passing command of responsibility to incoming acting, regional
director Henry M. Dongala, a lawyer.
The
oath was administered by Napolcom Commissioner Luisito T. Palmera witnessed by
Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez, Interior and Local
Government regional director John Castaneda and Napolcom Commissioner
Constancia De Guzman.
Maganon
was honored for his being with Napolcom Dec. 23, 1984 to March 24, 2015 where
he rose from the ranks as police commission agent to regional director.
He
received a plaque of commendation for being the former president of Napolcom
Employees Association from 2002-2004.
Palmera
said he foresees continuation of close coordination and cooperation between
PRO-COR and NAPOLCOM-Cordillera. “Being a native of Cordillera Atty. Dungala could easily adopt to the
demands of the position as acting regional director CAR-Napolcom,” Palmera said.
Nerez welcomed
Dungala saying he looked forward for a similar working relationship with him.
“We will always be united and partners in our quest for transformation and to
level up in our service to the Cordillera,” he said.

PNP recruiting 1,000 PO1 applicants
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- The Regional Police Office Cordillera is now
accepting police applicants.
PRO-COR
was allotted 1,000 regular quota for police Officer 1 (PO1) by national police
headquarters.
“As of
this date, PRO-COR has 889 pool of applicants and we are targeting at least
2,000 PO1 applicants to fill up the PRO-COR Public Safety Forces and PNP Mobile Forces,” RPHRDD chief Senior Supt. Joseph Adnol said.
Interested
and qualified PO1 applicants can submit application forms directly
to the Regional Personnel
and Human Resource Development Division (RPHRDD) -Recruitment and
Selection Section.
Regional
police director Chief Supt.Isagani Nerez had directed recruitment personnel to
assist applicants in initial screening.
Requirements
for applicants: duly-accomplished Application Form (RSD DPRM Form 2014-1A;
duly-accomplished Civil Service Personal Data Sheet (PDS) Revised 2005 with two
(2) copies of 2x2 colored picture and one (1) whole body picture with white
background; two (2) valid identification cards; NSO birth certificate;
Transcript of Records and Diploma; Certificate of Eligibility and Board Rating;
local clearances such as Barangay Clearance, Police Clearance, NBI Clearance,
Mayor’s Clearance, MTC,RTC and Prosecutor Clearance; Affidavit of undertaking
(RSD DPRM Form 2014-1B); Certificate of good moral character from the college
or university; General Weighted Average; and Height Waiver (for under height
applicant).
Applicants
must be a Filipino citizen with good moral character, 21 years and above but
not more than 30 years old, at least 1.62m in height for male and 1.57m in
height for female.
Applicants
must not be more than or less than 5 kg from standard weight corresponding to
one’s height, age, and sex.
Furthermore,
applicants must have baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning
institution, must be illegible in accordance with the standards set by the
commission, must not have been dishonorably discharged from the military
employment or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government,
must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving
moral turpitude and must have no pending criminal case in any court, including
at the office of the Ombudsman or administrative case if he/she is already
employee of the government.
Applicants
will undergo and must pass neuro-psychiatric/psychological screening, physical agility
test, physical//medical/dental examination, drug tests to determine their
physical and mental health and final board Interview by screening committee.
