Baguio mayor condemns knifing of POSD enforcer

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan condemned an attack on one of its enforcers tasked to maintain peace and order here in the public market.

A still unidentified assailant treacherously stabbed Francisco Galletes, a Public Order and Safety Division enforcer of the city mayor’s office in front of bakery along Magsaysay Avenue in broad daylight.

“The attack on Galletes was uncalled for and his assailant will face the full force of the law,” Domogan said. “We have to make them answer for what they did to our enforcer who was just doing his job,” he said.

Galletes was implementing anti-peddling operations in the city’s public market when the incident happened.
Domogan said the city government will be extending financial assistance to Galletes who is presently confined but already in stable condition at the Baguio General hospital and Medical Center.

Domogan added POSD personnel will be briefed on maximum tolerance, buddy-buddy system, values during operations and protection of self to avoid a repeat of the incident.”

The mayor also said team up with city police during operations will be strengthened to ensure safety of its personnel.

POSD chief Policarpio Cambod condemned the stabbing of Galletes adding anti-peddling operations will continue. “The incident will not deter our men in implementing anti-peddling operations but instead bolster their resolve to go after lawless elements.”
