Apayao town mayor dies at 54

FLORA, Apayao – The mayor of this town died July 11 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 54.

Efren de San Jose’s remains were visited by local folks and admirers at their residence in the town, Flora police chief Insp. Gary Gayamos said.

A dentist by profession and a member of the Liberal Party, De San Jose was unopposed in the 2013 elections.

Vice Mayor Rodolfo Juan Sr. assumed De San Jose’s post on Monday.
