Green building to rise in La Trinidad

By Joseph Zambrano

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A three-storey green building will soon rise in the public market in this strawberry producing capital town.

Mayor Edna C. Tabanda, in an interview said the green building design involves finding the balance between homebuilding and sustainable environment to meet the risk of climate change.

Municipal architect Chester Zambrano said the green building brings together practices, techniques, and skills to reduce and ultimately eliminate the impacts of buildings on the environment and human health.

Green buildings take advantage of  renewable resources like using sunlight, plants and trees through green roofs, rain gardens  and reduction of rainwater run-off, he added.

Jarco Realty and Development Corporation is the developer of this P300 million project through build-operate-lease-transfer (BOLT) scheme.

Everything is being ironed-out so there will be no major problem when the construction starts in an area of  4,000 square meters at the heart of the municipality,  Tabanda said.

With the growing population, the project will further boost   the  economic development and attend to the needs  of our municipality, Tabanda said.
