LTO sets new requirements set for getting driver’s license

By Ginalyn B. Brioso

BANGUED, Abra -- Drivers will now need to submit police clearance and medical certificate to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) when  obtaining new  or renewing driver’s license.
According to LTO provincial head Eusebio Bidalen, this is one of the changes in the requirements nationwide in securing driver’s license this year.
Bidalen said the LTO has increased the age requirement for student permit from 16 to 17.
Applicant must also submit authenticated National Statistics Office birth certificate.
Both sub-professional and professional driver’s license applicants will undergo seminar and written examination, he said.
He said many obtained their license this year and registered their vehicles due to Philippine National Police-Commission on elections checkpoints deployed in over 300 spots in the province.

Meanwhile, Bidalen reminds unlicensed drivers and motorists to secure their license and register their vehicles to avoid penalty.
