Isabela, Nueva Ecija election bets killed

TUGUEGARAO CITY– Two village chiefs in Isabela and Nueva Ecija, who were running for councilor, were shot dead night of April 14.
Heinrich Apostol of Barangay San Isidro in Jones, Isabela was having a drinking spree with Jimmy Balmilero, chairman of Barangay Dicamay 1, around 8 p.m. when a man appeared from behind and shot him.
Apostol died at the scene from a gunshot to the head. Balmilero was wounded and brought to a hospital for treatment.
Isabela elections supervisor Erwin Valeroso said Jones was added to the list of election “areas of concern” amid a spate of killings in the town.
In Talavera, Nueva Ecija, San Pascual barangay chairman Gerald Fermin was attending a wake when motorcycle-riding men shot him at close range.
