Incumbents, re-electionists top Mountain Province polls

MP goes for Poe, Marcos, Anac-IP

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Folks of this culture-rich and clannish province voted for incumbents and reelectionists last election, Commission on Election reports bared.

Unopposed and incumbent candidates- lawyer MaximoDalog remains congressman, BonifacioLacwasanas vice governor; mayors Franklin Odsey of Bontoc and lawyer Anthony Wooden of Tadian; and incoming John Bantog of  Besao replacing  graduating third termer mayor Wellington Pooten.

For SangguniangPanlalawigan, incumbents Alfonso Kiatong, Raul Lapon, Stephen Afuyog, and comebacking candidate CarinoTamang wo n as board members for District 1.  

For District 2, SP winning candidates were incumbent board members Francis Tauli and Romeo Pagedped, comebacking candidate Salvador Dalang and Sabangan mayor DonatoDanglose.

In the municipal level, the public voted for incumbent mayors  Clark Ngaya of Barlig,  Matthew Chiawan of  Natonin and Abraham Akilit of  Bauko in close fight with former mayor Simon Lacwasan;  while former  mayor Avelino Amangyen of  Paracelis returned to his old post.

Other winning town mayors of this province were Jose Jr. Limmayog of Sadanga, James PootenJr of Sagada taking the seat from third termer mayor Eduardo Latawan, and VenancioLipawen of Sabangan besting four other contenders and taking the executive seat from Mayor Donato Danglose who won as board member for District 2.  

Winning vice mayors were Bartolo Badecao of Bauko, June Lopsoten of Besao, EusebioKabluyen of Bontoc, Abel Bagsao of Natonin, Dario Esden of  Sabangan,Lorenzo Carpio of  Paracelis, Joseph Apopot of Sadanga, Alfonso Polan of Tadian, and Ben Capuyan of  Sagada who remained in the same position.  

Among winning municipal councilors, re-electionists all surfaced in Sagada with four incumbents FelicitoDula, Dave Gulian, David Buyagan, and Milton Tawali; former councilor Peter Tauli, former Association of Barangay Chairman (ABC) Joseph Aclopen, former vice mayor Jerry Ticag and incumbent barangay captain of AnkilengGannasiWadingan, son of former Sagada mayor LaurenteWadingan.  Other contenders were three barangay captains and 13 new others among 24 contenders.

Winning councilors of Bauko were four re-electionists Ricky Samidan, Labor Masidong, SabadoPussan, and Mario Gaoken; and incoming Ashley Sili, Susan Awisan, Eduardo Patnay, and ArcadioSr.Taganas.

Winning councilors of Besao were two incumbent councilors Henry Bosigen and PolicarpioPekas; and incoming SabetBuyagan, Gerry Caysoen, Alfredo Beyden, William Beswilan Sr., Kitano Liwaliw and Go Martin among 16 contenders.

Bontoc has five incoming councilors Viola Okko, Esteban Nguddo, Sir KoryanChumacog, AlexandreClaver and Robert Dacyon; and incumbent re-electionists Herman Farnican, AlsannysterPatingan and Alfredo Awichen among  26 candidates.

In Natonin, winning councilors were five incoming contenders RaymundoLapasen, Fernando Jr. Magranga, Rafael Bulawe, Dionisio Sr. Ma-anong, and Jose Biangalen with three winning incumbents Patricio Corcha, Christopher Bayowan, and Joseph Chorpangan among 28 candidates.

In Tadian, winning councilors were three incumbents George Jr. Bisen, Gilbert Lao-ay, and Joseph Cawilli; and five incoming Jayne Saong, Louie Buned, James Abadod, Robinson Pil-ingen, and Adolf Balangoy among 24 candidates

Among 32 candidates for councilor in Paracelis, the winning councilors are lone incumbent  re-electionist  Benjamin Manat and  7 incoming MaycelleOlosan, Rainier Calunnag, LitoBasungit, Djarma Rafael, Marc Lappao, AteneoGusimat and Gaston Todco.

Sabangan’s 26 councilor- contenders had winning candidate’s lone re-electionistFaustoBallakis; and seven incoming Roman Bacog, Enrique Litilit, Eustaquio Boy-og, Ruben Subilla, AmbrosioGalleo, Joseph Bernardez, and Crispin Altaki.

And for Sadanga’s 51 contenders for the councilorship also resulted to lone re-electionist incumbent Napoleon Sarang-ey and seven incoming GodelivaDangiwan-Gamonnac, Jonathan Gayyaman, FilemonFomak-chong, CeasarAgcarao, Juliet Chinalpan, Alonso Fattit, and Mathew Fanao.

This, as Mountain Province, with  voting population of  98,333 spread out in 10 towns and 79.4% of  voter turnout, voted Grace Poe as president with 30% of the votes  followed by Mar Roxas with 25%, JejomarBinay at 20%, RodyDuterte  at 12 % then Mirriam Santiago  at 10%.

Comelec reports revealed for the  vice presidency, Mountain Province favored Bongbong Marcos with 48% of the votes, followed by LeniRobredo at 24%, ChizEscudero at 14%, Antonio Trillanes at 5%, Peter Cayetano at 4% and  Gringo Honasan  at 2%.

Among the  senators, Mountain Province opted to go for  Frank Drilon, Leila DeLima, Ping Lacson, KikoPangilinan, Tesdaman Joel Villanueva, Sergio Osmena, Dick Gordon,  Vicente Sotto, TG Guingona, Ralph Recto, and Francis Tolentino in that order.

For party list, Mountain Province  had ANAC-IP as top choice  followed by  I-CARE,  ADDA, Act-Teachers then Bayan Muna in top 5.
