BURGOS,
Ilocos Norte -- An 18-year-old woman died while four others were injured when
their tricycle crashed into a canal in Barangay Nagaurot, Burgos, Ilocos Norte
on Monday.
Almira Jane Palacay was pronounced dead on
arrival in a hospital where her grandmother Emy Abian, 62, and relatives Yvana
Vei Ortega, 7; Shiela Abian, 29, and Christian Balaan, 3, were also brought for
treatment, said Chief Insp. Dexter Corpuz, Ilocos Norte police spokesman.
Initial investigation showed the accident
occurred when tricycle driver Edward Palacay tried to avoid an overtaking
vehicle.
